Winter Dream
By Cassi Clark, 1999
Like cherry blossoms shaken from a tree
white crystals float from a blooming sky,
one by one they descend on anticipating earth
rediscovering forgotten mountainous treasure.
White crystals float from a blooming sky
while the moon illuminates diamond peaks
rediscovering forgotten mountainous treasure
filling powder shaped meadows and bowls.
While the moon illuminates diamond peaks
piles of cherry blossom like flakes
fill powder shaped meadows and bowls.
Snowmen and women avert sleep to watch
piles of cherry blossom like flakes
cover cars and homes and windows through which
snowmen and women avert sleep to watch.
And clouds thicken as they dump their treasure
covering cars and homes and windows through which
snow-people imagine floating on the fluffy accumulation
and clouds thicken as they dump their treasure
over hibernating valleys and cliffs.
Snow-people imagine floating on the fluffy accumulation
as snowflakes fall endlessly
over hibernating valleys and cliffs.
Snow-people drift into excited slumber
as snowflakes fall endlessly
like cherry blossoms shaken from a tree
snow-people drift into excited slumber
and one by one white flakes descend on anticipating earth.
